Course Description

We’d love you to join us for a FREE Webinar- Shoebox Theatre! The webinar will focus on creating a set model box with your students. This can be amazing project to deliver across Key Stages 2-5! (Ages 9-18 years) With just a few simple resources, design and build a set model box, which can be adapted for any play text or set design. The webinar will focus on the importance of scale when designing and creating a set model box with your students. It is totally free and includes a resource pack with scale templates to use immediately in the classroom or drama studio. Join us for the live event and receive BONUS teaching resources. PLUS, we encourage schools and groups to have a go at producing a model box of their own, to enter into a competition (from April to August). Creations will be judged on ingenuity and creativity, with the chance to win vouchers and prizes. Can't make the live event? No problem! If you sign up, you will be able to stream the webinar digitally for one month after the live webinar. Teachers use this project for: ✔️Introducing set design ay Key Stage 3 (usually Year 8 or 9). Some popular schemes included teaching horror/ ghost plays, allowing students to choose a Shakespeare text or designing Blood Brothers. ✔️Each student selecting a scene from a set text they are studying. ✔️Teaching areas of an End On stage. ✔️Using it as a revision tool for drama exam set texts. ✔️Creating set designs for specific styles and genres (e.g. expressionism/ naturalism etc) Sam Beal is a multidisciplinary designer and theatre-maker working in London and around the east of England. He has produced designs for touring plays, immersive performance, and intimate live art installations. He is influenced by pop culture, fashion, history and architecture. Sam aims to explore the medium of scenic design through education and experimentation.
