
Workshops
Think Like a Designer Workshops are for GCSE & A-Level Students and provide an engaging and stimulating introduction to the professional practice and processes of theatre design.
All Workshops are two hours long, include a Workbook for students to complete as an editable PDF, focusing on the fundamentals of one design discipline.
Script extracts used in these sessions will be chosen by the school- from either The Crucible by Arthur Miller or Machinal by Sophie Treadwell.
Set Design Workshop

An engaging and creative session, introducing students to the fundamentals of set design. Students will learn how to analyse a script as a set designer and design a scene from a play text in different stage spaces. They will experiment with ground plans and basic 3D model-making and present their creative ideas at the end of the session.

Costume Design Workshop

A stimulating, fast-paced Workshop which introduces students the fundamentals of costume design. They will experiment with mark-making and explore different fabrics & textures. They will learn how to analyse a script extract as a costume designer, then build towards creating and presenting a costume at the end of the session, using a range of materials and resources.

Sound Design Workshop

Students will have so much fun exploring live sound effects in this innovative Sound Design Workshop! They will learn how to analyse a script as a sound designer, know how to create sounds in the style of Radio Dramas, before moving on to explore a script extract practically, using Foley Sound Techniques.

Lighting Design Workshop

Students will learn the fundamentals of Lighting Design in this active, creative workshop. Our professional designers will use Capture software to demonstrate a range of lighting effects. They will explore angles, direction and colour practically and build towards creating designs for a script extract in the final presentations.
